Living in the chaotic paradise that is New York City means that for me, Mexico is always a good idea.  It’s the perfect mix of exotic, but familiar, far, but close, and of course, flights are usually pretty cheap.  However, instead of heading to Cancun, I usually opt for the laid back vibe of Puerto Vallarta.  This little resort town on Mexico’s Pacific Coast is home to my new favorite home away from home.  A place I didn’t even know I needed until I arrived, and now we’re BFFs for life.  So where is this magical Mexican haven?  Why it’s The Four Seasons Punta Mita of course!

Now I’ve been to Mexico more than a few times, and have stayed in my share of resorts in the area, but the Four Seasons Punta Mita truly blew me away.  Located in a private enclave in Punta Mita, a short 45 minute drive from PVR airport, Four Seasons Punta Mita is pure Mexican heaven.  Despite being one of the oldest luxury resorts in the area, the property still feels fresh, fun and young.  The lobby greets you with a breathtaking view and welcoming breeze, while the staff immediately makes sure that you feel right at home with the first of many tequila inspired drinks.

In the style of chic Mexican beach homes, each of the 173 guest rooms and suites at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita offers simple décor and opens to a furnished terrace or balcony.  I had a spacious Ocean View Casita that allowed me to indulge in the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The welcome amenity, DIY margaritas with fresh guacamole and chips, was a life saver after my early morning flight.  My only complaint would be the outdated bathroom, I love taking bubble baths, but the tub felt small and confined since it was in between the wall and the sink.  Other than that, being able to relax in my room soaking up complimentary wifi and ordering room service via my Four Seasons app, while listening to the ocean was all a girl could want.

Once you tear yourself away from the comfort of your room, check out the 3 pools, 2 private beaches and 10 tennis courts.  If you need more stimulation than that, no worries, the Four Seasons Punta Mita has you covered.  First on my agenda was a yummy cooking demonstration where I learned to make more of that delicious guac that was left in my room.

You can’t have guacamole without a cocktail, and what better drink to have in Mexico than tequila. Lucky for me, the resort just introduced a new tequila laced drink for their #CocktailQuarterly series called Patron Remedy.  This refreshing drink was made with guava, agave syrup, ginger, basil, Patron Silver tequila and topped with champagne.  Needless to say this was pretty much the only thing I had to drink during my stay.

No seriously, Patron Remedy was my go to drink. Even while lounging by one of the pools, I just had to have one, soooooo I might’ve had one delivered to me in the pool!

I also managed to squeeze in time to drink a Coco Loco or two, but don’t ask me what was in it, I was too busy enjoying the poolside views and stuffing myself with yummy shrimp tacos.

The main beach on the resort was home away from home.  Cabanas on stilts, chair swings, amenity butlers serving up fresh fruit, mini pina coladas and more every hour (FYI, you also get daily amenities in your room like shrimp and beer….winning!), and the sound of crashing waves, made it the most relaxing place on earth.  Just down a steep sand hill was the ocean, and while I ran down a few times to take a dip, coming back up in that heat was not as much fun.  Still, I’d overcome any obstacle to enjoy that little piece of beach heaven.

One of my favorite parts of the resort were all the hidden treasures. When I wasn’t by the pool I could walk along the paths and learn about Mexico’s art culture through the gorgeous statues that lined my way.  Need a few moments of quiet without sacrificing service?  I could just spend time at the Lazy River which was discreetly tucked away on the grounds.  My secret hideout was the Gelato Shop located on the resort’s second private beach.  Daily trips there for some homemade gelato became the highlight of my vacation, and it helped that the friendly staff was always around to take me with a smile.

There are so many unique experiences for you to try at Four Seasons Punta Mita that you couldn’t spend all day on the beach even if you wanted to.  Just before I headed off to have my amazing signature Punta Mita Massage (Which uses tequila!), I headed down to the beach to participate in the resort’s Catch of the Day program.  Local fishermen bring the resort’s Bahía by Richard Sandoval Restaurant fresh fish for guests to not only learn about, but to choose from for their lunch and or dinner that day.  I chose a Pink Snapper, and it was amazing to see how my fish went from on ice, to heaven on a plate.

After days of drinking tequila, I made sure to actually take a moment to learn more about Mexico’s most famous drink with a Tequila Tasting & Blending Experience.  A must do at Four Seasons Punta Mita if you love tequila.  Not only do you learn to appreciate the drink in a new way, but you walk away with a signature blend of your own that you can reorder any time you want.

Don’t worry, the treats aren’t only for the adults.  If you’re traveling with little ones, Four Seasons Punta Mita has a Kids For All Seasons Program with a treehouse, arts and crafts, water sports and more.

When my stay at the Four Seasons Punta Mita came to an end, I have to admit I was a bit sad.  Not just because I wouldn’t be having tequila everyday, but because this was truly one of the few resorts that I’ve stayed in, that didn’t make me feel like a faceless guest.  The level of customer service shown by the staff, and the way they went above and beyond to make sure you felt a small piece of Mexican hospitality with every encounter and experience, really made all the difference. The Four Seasons Punta Mita made a new loyal customer, and if you don’t believe a word I’ve written, all you need to believe is the joy in my face in my last photo at the resort to know that I had an unforgettable time and will definitely be back.
