A new year means a new set of hotel openings for luxury hotel lovers everywhere to swoon and salivate over. As someone who lives and breathes luxury hotels, I keep a spreadsheet full of properties I know I have to keep my eye on, and trust me the list is long! However this year only a select few made it on to my #WhisperWorthy list of 2017’s hottest and most anticipated hotel openings. These are the hotels that have completely grasped my attention, and if I want to stay there, you know you’ll want to stay there too!
The Silo – Cape Town, South Africa
Nestled in the wonders of South Africa’s Mother City, The Silo Cape Town is a new luxury boutique property slated to open along the city’s V&A Waterfront in March. The Silo will feature 28 rooms and suites across six floors, a rooftop Champagne bar, a spa, glass pool with views of Table Mountain, fine dining and even a piano bar.
As if all that wasn’t enough, The Silo also comes with views like this. Definitely hard to beat.
Rosewood Luang Prabang – Luang Prabang, Laos
Located a short 10 minute drive from the historic city of Luang Prabang, the new Rosewood Luang Prabang will be an idyllic resort completely immersed within a virtually untouched natural environment and the only luxury vacation destination in the vicinity with no civilization in sight.
Guest will feel like they are on a resort of their very own, especially since the property will only offer 22 spacious accommodations including eight deluxe villas, three garden villas, six private pool villas and five luxury tents with features such as open-air showers, tubs and living rooms. addition, the resort will feature a bar and a bistro serving French and Laotian cuisine and Sense, A Rosewood Spa with three treatment rooms.
Miavana Island Sanctuary – Nosy Anko, Madagascar
Madagascar is definitely an African destination on the rise. Beautiful beaches, delicious food, adventure, and now, a new luxury hideaway. The country’s first ultra five-star lodge, Miavana will be a 14-villa lodge on Madagascar’s Nosy Ankao island.
Accessible only via private helicopter, the sanctuary’s villas will all have direct beach and ocean access and will offer guests the chance to scuba dive and snorkel in the Indian Ocean’s warm waters just outside of their rooms, as well as the chance to have carefully planned, up close and personal encounters with many of the endangered animals who call the island sanctuary home.
Four Seasons at The Surf Club – Surfside, Florida
Very rarely am I excited about hotel openings in the United States. In comparison to what you can experience overseas, domestic openings tend to lack that extra something. But there is something about the rebirth of a classic that has my luxe heart all a flutter. Back in the 1930s the Surf Club was the place to be in Miami Beach, especially if you were on the club scene. Fast forward to today and the iconic club will be reborn as the Four Seasons at The Surf Club.
The new and improved Surf Club, opening in February, will boast 77-rooms and will have three pools on its property, a seemingly endless white sand beach and a 15,000-square foot luxury spa center offering traditional Hammam service and oceanfront meditation areas for yoga and Pilates. I just might add a trip to Miami to my travel list this year.
